Yerevan /Mediamax/. Russia and Iran have stressed the importance of a long-term political and diplomatic settlement of the NK conflict.

TASS reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has made this statement at the press conference following the meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif today in Tehran.

“We have discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, taking into account Russia’s mediation efforts that allow for stable ceasefire. We have underlined the importance of overcoming the consequences of the conflict and in general reaching a long-term political and diplomatic settlement on the basis of fairness, in the interests of Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples. We have also considered the role that other countries of the region can play in that process,” said Lavrov.
