Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today that the Armenian side has done everything possible to maintain the ceasefire on the Artsakh-Azerbaijani line of contact, which has been announced for the third time.

“The US President has personally congratulated me and Azervaijani president on the agreement reached. Of course, we do not know yet how he will react to the failure of the ceasefire,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The PM informed that he had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday at midnight.

“I told him directly that since it is the first ceasefire for them and the third one for us, I can predict what will happen tomorrow. The most important question I asked Secretary Pompeo was the following: if the ceasefire is not maintained, how will we find out who is to blame and what will be the consequences for the party violating the ceasefire? I do not consider it right to say what Pompeo answered, but I hope we will publicly get the answers to these questions from the US side today,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minster pointed out that the leaders of Russia, France and USA sincerely want the ceasefire to be established and have put their names under those efforts.

“In case of the United States, the issue is getting more urgent due to the election campaign there, and it is actually about President Trump’s ability to influence the international situation,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The head of the government noted that Armenia has been extremely flexible all this time, however it is now obvious that “Azerbaijan does not want a settlement but a capitulation of Artsakh.”

“The people of Armenia are ready for compromises, even very painful ones, but in no case are they ready for capitulation. We have to find resources to resist and protect our rights in order to influence the situation so that Azerbaijan is ready for compromises, too,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
