Yerevan /Mediamax/. In today’s telephone conversation, Foreign Ministers of Russia and Iran, Sergey Lavrov and Mohammad Javad Zarif, expressed concern over ongoing hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Both sides expressed serious concern over ongoing large-scale hostilities as well as over the involvement of militants of illegal armed groups from Syria and Libya,” the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.
“The ministers highlighted the important role the countries of the region may play, especially the neighbors of Armenia and Azerbaijan, to create conditions facilitating the speedy return of the parties to the negotiation table,” the statement reads.
