Yerevan/Mediamax/. Spokeswoman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan has stated that the remarks Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov made after the meeting in Washington contradict the reality.

“This approach is unconstructive, which undervalues the serious nature of the peace talks,” she said.

According to Anna Naghdalyan, the issues that were discussed before and during the Washington meeting included mitigation of the situation escalated by Azerbaijan.

“The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs urged the sides to act immediately to restore the environment conducive to peace and adhere to the ceasefire and made concrete suggestions regarding humanitarian action and risk reduction. Azerbaijan’s remarks, which fall outside of this agenda, contradict the reality and bring us to the conclusion that Azerbaijan has no intention of complying with the mentioned calls and suggestions.

Moreover, the claim that negotiations could be conducted successfully in the background of the ceasefire violations cause substantial damage to the efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement and the peace talks themselves,” concluded Naghdalyan.
