Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said that Azerbaijan’s April offensive was a hard blow to the negotiation process, which divided it into two part.

The President expressed his deep confidence that the NK conflict should be solved in peaceful way solely.

“Our position remains the same it was before the April war – Armenia and Artsakh have no reason to wage war. The April events proved that Baku has serious problems with realistic worldview. It is evident in their public statements as well. The fact is that our army realized its military task, being the defender party. Azerbaijan attacked unexpectedly but failed to realize its task. Our position is unchanged - NK issue can be solved only through free self-determination of the people of Artsakh, other issues are derivative,” the President said.

According to Serzh Sargsyan, no issue can be solved while the status of Artsakh is undetermined.

He attached importance to correct estimation of the balance of powers in the region and added:

“We don’t have a military-political purpose of seizing Baku and demanding capitulation, but we understand very well what irreversible losses we can cause to our rival. I think there is no need for details,” he said.

President of Armenia also noted, “We will not enter an arms race, and our resources are more than enough for our Armed Forces to carry out their duty.”
