Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan stated today that establishment of incident investigation mechanism at the NK-Azerbaijan Line of Contact will be a good basis for renewal of negotiations.

Serzh Sargsyan made this statement at the meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

“We will be happy to achieve progress today in implementation of the verbal agreements we reached before, that is, establishment of incident investigation mechanism,” said Serzh Sargsyan, TASS reports.

According to Armenian President, Armenia’s position on the NK conflict is well-known.

“We want this issue to be resolved in an exclusively peaceful way. I would also like to thank you for understanding and efforts you put into this matter, as a Co-Chair state of the OSCE Minsk Group,” said Serzh Sargsyan.

He noticed that nevertheless, such conflicts cannot be settled at will of one party.

According to the official notice of Kremlin, during the meeting Vladimir Putin touched upon Armenian-Russian cooperation in trade and economy, and partnership in integration format, CSTO in particular.

“I should note that our relations develop more actively within integration process than on the previous bilateral basis, which pleases us. There is an opportunity and a necessity now to discuss our next steps. Armenia holds CSTO chairmanship at present, and a meeting on the highest level will take place in autumn. We shall speak about this,” said Russian President.

Mediamax finds it worth reminding that after meeting Serzh Sargsyan, President of Russian will have a meeting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, followed by a trilateral meeting.

The first meeting between Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan after the four-day war in April took place on May 16, Vienna.
