Yerevan/Mediamax/. Azerbaijan should restore "its full sovereign control over the Karabakh region”.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov stated in his interview to “Echo of Moscow” that this is his country’s “maximal position”, Mediamax reports.

“The matter is not merely in Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, but establishment of direct, vertical and sovereign control over Karabakh region”, stated Azimov.

However, he said, “Baku has taken a step from this position towards the middle of the bridge”, and it is ready to demonstrate flexibility and discuss various models of Nagorno Karabakh’s self-government within Azerbaijan”.

As for “Armenia’s maximal position”, according to Araz Azimov, Armenians do not conceal that they want Nagorno Karabakh’s independence from Azerbaijan.

“The fact that President Sargsyan has begun to state zealously that Azerbaijani will not return to Karabakh, comes to prove that Armenia is not ready to consider the possibility of Nagorno Karabakh’s reintegration into Azerbaijan”, said the Deputy Minister.

“We would like the Armenian side to reassess the values and assess what it gained and what it lost, and what they may gain in the future. In case of such reassessment, Armenia would also be able to come up to the middle of the bridge”, noted Araz Azimov.
