Yerevan /Mediamax/. Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkey has again repeated that Ankara “does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea.”

TASS reports that this was stated in a statement issued today by the Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry on the occasion of 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Ankara and Kyiv.

“Turkey supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and stands for a peaceful solution in Donbass in accordance with international law,” the statement says.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is due in Kyiv today.

Mediamax notes that in August 2021 spokesperson of Russia’s president Dmitry Peskov stated that “Russia will not accept Turkey’s position on Crimea.”

The comment came following the participation of the Turkey’s minister of foreign affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu in “Crimean Platform” forum and his remarks about returning Crimea to Ukraine.

“We will not accept such position from our Turkish colleagues, we consider it completely wrong and are ready to continue explaining to our Turkish colleagues, as well as to other countries, the reality with this Russian region,” Peskov said.
