Yerevan /Mediamax/. Aide to Turkey’s president Ihsan Sener who condemned the presence of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in Kazakhstan, stated that he was “misunderstood.”

An official from Russian embassy in Ankara told TASS that the corresponding statement was made during Sener’s meeting with the Russian ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov.

“In the course of a thorough, friendly conversation, a number of issues on the current stage of Russian-Turkish relations were discussed. Both sides highly assessed the efforts of the leadership of the two countries to develop mutually beneficial Russian-Turkish cooperation. Ihsan Sener noted that one sentence on the situation in Kazakhstan, voiced in his speech during “We will not let July 15 be forgotten” conference was misunderstood,” the statement says.

Earlier, Sener stated about “occupation of Kazakhstan” by Russia.

On January 14 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated:

“There was, to put it mildly, an incomprehensible statement in Ankara by one of President Erdogan’s advisers, who simply condemned Kazakhstan’s actions with regard to the invitation of the CSTO. We have now asked our Turkish colleagues to explain what this means.”
