Yerevan /Mediamax/. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has stated that Turkey must act in accordance with its membership in the OSCE Minsk Group and contribute to a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Heiko Maas has made that remark during the discussion on the conflict at the Bundestag on October 29.
According to Maas, at this stage of the war Germany is pursuing two priority goals: provide humanitarian assistance to the civilian population affected by the war, and achieve an immediate, unconditional humanitarian ceasefire.
He has noted that as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, Germany is ready to promote substantive negotiations.
“Azerbaijan and Armenia must realize that no military solution to this long-standing conflict will be accepted by the international community. Favorable negotiating positions on the battlefield cannot be achieved. There is no alternative to a ceasefire and new substantive talks,” said Maas.
