Yerevan /Mediamax/. Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated today that issue of presence of terrorists in Nagorno Karabakh is fully under the control of the military experts of Russia’s relevant structures.
“It worries us. We talked about it, also in public. I can assure you that non-public work is being done very actively, because it is a serious problem for us,” Zakharova stressed.
When asked about what the point of Russia’s calls to the countries that help terrorists get there is, Maria Zakharova said:
“Russia’s diplomacy relies on the tools it has, and these are not just hopes and dreams, but concrete work. It is made of actions in the first place and of public statements in the second. Russian military experts are involved in this work. This job, as you know, does not need extra attention. The society should be convinced that the work is being done, and we know very well about the possible consequences, we are calculating them.”
Maria Zakharova also said that Russia continues active mediation efforts aimed at “stopping the bloodshed” in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
“Like in the past, we are working in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group. The next meeting is due tomorrow in Washington,” Zakharova said.
Commenting on the statement by official Ankara that “the Minsk Group has died since it has not shown any real initiative for the settlement of the conflict,” Maria Zakharova said:
“I think we should rely on another tactic, based on Moscow’s official position on this issue, which is known to everyone and not only has not changed, but has been strengthened by concrete steps. Today we announced another step within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.”
