Yerevan /Mediamax/. Spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan has stated today that the extremely contradicting signals and statements recently coming from the official Baku suggest that the July clashes were a powerful blow to both the army and the diplomatic potential of Azerbaijan.

“Following the clashes, the Armenian side presented its approaches to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, which put the emphasis on ruling out the threat of force, ceasing hateful rhetoric and strengthening the ceasefire regime. According to our assessments, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs also consider these approaches to be priorities,” said Anna Naghdalyan.

Touching on the possibility of a meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in the nearest future, Anna Naghdalyan has said that Armenia is ready to continue the efforts in the framework of the peace process and if the sides set a date for the mentioned meeting, they will announce it simultaneously.

The Armenian MFA Spokesperson has also stated that representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have not yet visited Gurgen Alaverdyan, the Armenian officer who is held captive in Azerbaijan. “We are working with the ICRC representatives in Baku to make the visit happen,” she said.
