Yerevan /Mediamax/. The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has opened an election observation mission (EOM) in Baku for the 9 February early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

The head of the mission is Ambassador Peter Tejler (Sweden), who led the ODIHR observation mission during the spring of 2019 presidential elections in Ukraine.

The Baku mission consists of a core team of 12 experts. According to ODIHR, 30 long-term observers will be deployed throughout the country from 14 January and 350 short-term observers will monitor the election day. On February 9, the ODIHR EOM will also join efforts with delegations of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to monitor the elections.
