Armenia votes against Ukraine’s resolution in UN

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia has voted against adoption of the resolution on “The problem of militarization of Crimea and parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov”, proposed by Ukraine, in the UN General Assembly.

TASS reports that the resolution received 63 “for” and 19 “against” votes, while 66 countries abstained from voting.

 

Apart from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, China, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Serbia, Syria, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Sudan and Burundi were among the countries that voted against the resolution.

 

In particular, the resolution states that “Russian military presence in Crimea violates national sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and undermines the security and stability of neighboring countries and the European region”.
