Yerevan/Mediamax/. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan has stated that Turkey’s complex reservoir construction involving water resources of Araks River is negatively affecting the lands, which depend on the river basin for irrigation, and disrupts the hydrologic and biospheric balance in the region.

Avinyan’s office said that he made that remark at the meeting with Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu, the UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.

Tigran Avinyan has also pointed out that Armenia is not only landlocked due to its geographic position, but also has two borders out of four closed, one of them with Turkey. He suggested taking concrete action for resolving that issue.
