Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Ambassador to Ukraine Tigran Seyranyan has stated that "the Armenian-Ukrainian relations are not at their best, but it is possible to find common points”.
“Every country acts based on its vital interests. In some periods, these interests have different levels of priority for objective reasons. I am certain that even in these conditions Armenia and Ukraine can find common points and improve the bilateral relations. I am optimistic about it and I can see signs of it,” he said in the interview to Tert.am.
When asked why Armenia does not apply a neutral approach to the votes on Ukrainian resolutions on international platforms, Tigran Seyranyan replied:
“Let us not look at the issue from only one side. Ukraine also voted for various documents containing anti-Armenian points. Armenia cannot but oppose a document that ignores or disparages the very important Helsinki Final Act principle of equality of nations and the right for self-determination. In any way, I believe the two countries have an opportunity to consider each other’s positions more carefully and try to bring them close, achieve mutual understanding.”
