Yerevan /Mediamax/. Delegation of Knesset (parliament of Israel) will arrive in Armenia to attend events dedicated to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.
President of the Jewish community of Armenia Rima Varzhapetyan told Mediamax that Knesset members will arrive in Armenia accompanied by Ambassador of Israel to Armenia Shmuel Meirom.
Newsru.co.il website informed this morning that the visit of the Knesset delegation to Armenia does not imply a change in Israel’s official stance on the Armenian Genocide. According to the website, a few days ago a signature collecting launched in Israel the participants of which were petitioning the Israeli government to officially acknowledge the Armenian Genocide.
Mediamax recalls that in early March, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian paid a visit to Jerusalem. At the meeting with the President of Israel, the parties discussed the shared responsibility of Armenian and Jewish peoples in preventing crimes against humanity.
