Yerevan /Mediamax/. Former U.S. Secretary of State, former First Lady of the U.S. Hillary Clinton discusses the possibility of visiting Yerevan on April 23-24 to attend Armenian Genocide Centennial events.

Mediamax learned about it from a source in the Group of Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues comprised of over 90 congressmen.

According to the source, Hillary Clinton who on April 12 officially announced her intention to run for President in 2016 has yet not made a final decision and continues to consult both in the U.S. and outside of it.

Hillary Clinton’s visit to Yerevan on April 24 might be a “good denouement” for Obama’s administration, Mediamax’s source said. According to him, she is not a representative of official Washington, and Turkey won’t be able to protest against her visit to Yerevan for the Centennial. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton is former U.S. Secretary of State and possible next U.S. President and her presence in Yerevan will be a symbolic gesture of the U.S. administration addressed to the Armenian leadership, suggested the source.

Mediamax turned to the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan where they promised to later comment on the participation of the U.S. in April 23-24 events.

It should be noted that as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was actively engaged in the negotiating and signing of the Armenian-Turkish protocols in 2009. Later commenting on the prospects of the ratification of the protocols, Hillary Clinton used to note that “the ball is in the Turkish field.”
