Yerevan /Mediamax/. The Azerbaijani subversive groups made attempts to enter the NKR territory in the northeastern (Jraberd) and southeastern (Korgan) directions of the contact line between NKR and Azerbaijani troops on the night of January 19 and January 20 morning.
“Preventing the actions of the Azerbaijani subversive groups, the front subdivisions of the NKR Armed Forces started organized defense and threw back the enemy to its start positions causing considerable casualties and material loss”, the NKR Defense Ministry reports.
As a result of the mutual firing, junior sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan was killed of bullet wound.
Upon the order of NKR President Bako Sahakyan, Armen Hovhannisyan was awarded posthumous “Medal of Bravery”.
