Yerevan /Mediamax/. Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the General Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation of Armenian Defense Ministry, has received today the military attachés of the foreign embassies accredited in Armenia.

“The attachés have been informed about the military operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of Verin Shorzha on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border since the early morning of July 28. They have also been informed that in order to improve their position and create favorable conditions for further possible advancement, the Azeri units have attacked the main Armenian combat post with mortar launchers, grenade launchers, and large-caliber firearms, and temporarily occupied it. As a result of retaliatory actions, the enemy was pushed back to the starting positions, suffering numerous losses,” the ministry said in a statement.

Levo Ayvazyan has highlighted that Azerbaijan has undertaken the largest provocation with use of weapons since the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020 in the sovereign territory of Armenia and created an immediate threat to the civilian population of nearby settlements.
