Yerevan /Mediamax/. Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received the delegation led by Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of Islamic Culture and Communication Organization of Iran.

Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani was also present at the meeting.

“His Holiness expressed his concerns regarding the concessions imposed by Azerbaijan on Armenia and the ongoing encroachments on the sovereign territory, which hinder the processes of establishing a stable peace and security environment in the region. He also spoke about the importance of protecting the just rights of Artsakh Armenians and touched upon the problems of preserving Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

His Holiness expressed gratitude to the authorities of Iran for supporting Armenia, greatly appreciating the caring attitude towards the Armenian spiritual and cultural values and the Armenian community in Iran,” the news release issued by the Holy See reads.

Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour presented to the Armenian Catholicos the programs aimed at strengthening educational and cultural ties between the two countries.

The head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization expressed confidence that the dialogue and cooperation between religions will be an important stimulus for strengthening friendship between peoples and overcoming the existing challenges in the region.
