Yerevan /Mediamax/. The UK Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Aves said today that Lydian International’s Amulsar project offers "great benefits” for Armenia.
Lydian International is expected to invest overall $400 million in Armenian Amulsar gold mine.
Talking about UK investments in Armenia, Jonathan Aves mentioned HSBC Bank and some pharmaceutics companies. “But overall the current situation in terms of investments number and size, is very unsatisfactory”, he noted.
“We are very keen on encouraging more British companies to invest in Armenia. Lydian International is on the top of the list of companies that we are working with and supporting them to invest in Armenia. As it is well known, they are developing the large-scale gold mining project in Amulsar. We believe that this project offers great benefits for Armenia”, British Ambassador said at a press conference in Yerevan today.
He stressed that Amulsar project will not only create new jobs for Armenian economy and provide tax revenues for the state budget, but also will demonstrate to Western companies that Armenia is a place where companies meeting high international standards can operate successfully.
