Yerevan/Mediamax/. Health Minister of Armenia Arsen Torosyan has announced that there are 482 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country, including 58 cases confirmed yesterday.

“Out of these 58 patients, 25 have been quarantined since the start of the outbreak and had virtually no contacts with others, and 31 people, including one member of medical staff, have been among suspected cases, meaning they had contacts with the coronavirus patients. We have only two cases outside of that framework. These two patients have arrived from abroad and we are currently clarifying what contacts they have had,” said Torosyan.

According to him, the total number includes one coronavirus case in the army as well.

30 patients have recovered so far.

Arsen Torosyan has added that 14 coronavirus patients are in critical condition and one patient is in extremely critical condition.

“We expect that one patient to be in critical, not extremely critical condition soon, because the doctors have noticed a positive dynamic in the treatment. The ventilator might not be needed anymore, and the patient will breathe on their own. We also expect two critical patients to be in better condition. Thanks to the treatment, they might be taken to an ordinary ward,” explained Torosyan.

He has noted that one of the patients in critical condition is a young person and the doctors consider it very likely that the patient will make a full recovery.

“The patients’ chronic illnesses are the decisive factor in the end, because without those, patients do not have to be taken to the intensive care unit,” added Torosyan.
