Yerevan/Mediamax/. Grand Master of French Grand Orient De France Masonic Lodge Guy Arcizet arrived in Yerevan to assist his Armenian French freemasons to establish a lodge.
He said that there are about 15-20 masons in Armenia, Mediamax reports.
According to Guy Arcizet, establishment of a lodge is a long process which may take 10-15 years. At the same time, Guy Arcizet said that Armenian masons are forced to conceal this fact as “the freemasonry is considered as a dangerous sect, although it’s not true.”
“I am in Armenia on my own initiative to make the philosophy of freemasonry available and understandable as well as to support my Armenian bothers,” Guy Arcizet said.
He noted that there are two branches of freemasonry- French freemasonry and Anglo-Saxon freemasonry, which were divided in late 19th century and there are no contacts between them. Guy Arcizet explained that the French masons mainly deal with civil and social problems, particularly advocate provision of various freedoms and rights, whereas the Anglo-Saxon freemasonry mainly concentrates on mysticism.
