Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of the second President’s office Victor Soghomonyan said today that "one has to completely lose his common sense to call Robert Kocharyan "drowned””.
Victor Soghomonyan said this commenting upon Mediamax’s request on the speech of the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan made at the latest rally in which he called Robert Kocharyan “a drowned ship”.
“I won’t go into long explanations since every one knows about Kocharian’s activities without any explanations – from the victory at the Karabakh war up to Armenia’s dramatic economic development.
Robert Kocharyan has never lost elections – either in the NKR or in the Republic of Armenia and as of now, he is the only Armenian President who held the post for two presidential terms with tangible (more and more tangible) success. It’s not clear what kind of “drowning” is meant.
However, this metaphor of Ter-Petrosyan which is obviously a poor one should be used in a new way taking into account the personality of its author. If considering Ter-Petrosyan’s political biography in the perspective of the essence of the metaphor we can state that he just has “the habit of drowning”. He “drowned” in 1996 when he was an ignominious failure at the elections. In 1998, he had to go down to the bottom of politics with a brand of a betrayer of national interests. He was in a “drowned” state for 10 years after which he twice “drowned” in 2008 – at first in the presidential elections and then- in the Yerevan Mayor elections when he lost the political battle to Gagik Beglaryan. It seems he simply can’t “sink” even more, he’s already been “at the bottom” for a long time.
In short, the sole author of the ANC proportional list had better make up another comparison for his attacks. And this one boomerangs an extremely painful blow to his own forehead”, stated Victor Soghomonyan.
