Armenian president and Prime Minister highlight “the system of counterbalances”

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have held a work meeting at the presidential residence today.

“It seems that we have a habit of meeting regularly to discuss everything that goes on in the country and globally as well as the visits, meetings, achievements and challenges of each of our institutions – the government and the presidency,” noted Armen Sarkissian.

Nikol Pashinyan has stated that 2019 was a successful year for Armenia.

“I believe 2020 will be the start of another such period. Establishment of institutions and the system of counterbalances and mutual restrain has always been and will remain a key matter for us,” said Pashinyan.

Touching on current situation with the Constitutional Court of Armenia, the Prime Minister said:

“I definitely share your view that we should approach this issue in the institutional context, in the context of Armenia’s national and state interests, accurate and operating system of counterbalance.”

Armen Sarkissian added he was ready for discussions on the topic.

“It is essential that you have mentioned establishment of institutions in our country, which balance each other out, because long-term, sustainable development we are considering cannot take place without them,” noted President Sarkissian.
