Yerevan/Mediamax/. Former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan believes that he is "destined to play a very important role in liberating the country from the vicious government that undermines our national identity”.

In the interview to Yerevan.Today, he also spoke about his role in the opposition:

“The essence and actions of current government have brought me back to politics. By holding me behind bars, it is making me a symbol of resistance to its incompetence governance.

Destiny enabled me to lead the fight for independence of Karabakh, which symbolized the rebirth of national consciousness. When the movement just began, I avoided being thrown in Azerbaijani prison by miracle. The irony is that the current government of Armenia is doing now what the Azerbaijani authorities failed to do years ago.

History has many examples of successful political struggle led from behind the bars. I am probably destined to play an important role in liberating the country from the vicious government that undermines our national identity.”
