Yerevan/Mediamax/. By the decree of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan Armen Gevorgyan was appointed today Secretary of Armenian National Security Council (NSC).

“Armen Gevorgyan has sufficient experience to properly carry out heavy responsibilities of Secretary of Armenian National Security Council. He is an established figure. I know him for almost 20 years of joint work, and I cannot recall a moment he wasn’t diligent in his duty during those 20 years. He is also familiar with the work of the NSC, and he dealt with issues in competence of the service,” said President, while presenting Armen Gevorgyan.

 

President expressed confidence that the newly appointed Secretary will be able to prove that the National Security Council is an important part of the state management system.

 

“I am sure that through joint efforts we can make this Council meet all expectations,” said Armen Gevorgyan.

 

Armen Gevorgyan was born on July 8 in 1973, Yerevan.

 

In 1997-1998 he worked as Assistant to Armenian Prime Minister.

 

In April 1998, he was appointed Assistant to President of Armenian, later First Assistant to the President, and First Deputy Head of Staff. In February 2006 he was appointed Head of Staff of Armenian President.

 

In June 2007-April 2008 he worked as Secretary of Armenian National Security Council.

 

On April 21, 2008 he was appointed by the presidential decree Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration, and Armenian Vice Prime Minister.

 

In October 2015 he worked as CEO of Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation.
