Yerevan /Mediamax/. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has described as "a turning point” his panel discussion on Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Munich.

In the interview to the Armenian Public TV Company, Pashinyan noted that since May 2018 Azerbaijan had been trying to convince the international community that Armenia’s stance on the conflict settlement was not constructive. According to the Prime Minister, the Munich discussion proved that the party with non-constructive stance was always Azerbaijan and that its views were borderline racist at times.

Pashinyan recalled that one of his key pre-election promises was that he would not “keep secrets about Karabakh peace talks from Armenian people”.

According to the Prime Minister, the negotiation process had evident new content, which he conventionally called “the Munich principles”.

Nikol Pashinyan reiterated the idea he voiced in Munich – “it is a matter of security, not a matter of territories”. Pashinyan explained that the self-defense forces of Artsakh took the territories in question under their control “not for their own pleasure, but because there was no other option”.

The Prime Minister noted that the goal was to keep Azerbaijan’s aggression as far away from Artsakh’s borders as possible and “if Azerbaijan or the international community can suggest an equally efficient way to ensure the security of Artsakh, Armenian people are ready to discuss it”.
