Yerevan/Mediamax/. U.S. House of Representatives Condemns crimes against Middle East Christians and Minorities including Armenians and Assyrians – as well as Yezidis and other religious minorities in the Middle East by ISIS "Islamic State” terrorist group, describing them as genocide.
H.Con.Res.75, authored by the Co-Chairs of the House Caucus for Religious Minorities in the Middle East, Republican Jeff Fortenberry and California Representative Anna Eshoo, was unanimously adopted yesterday receiving the support of 393 Congressmen.
In her speech, Anna Eshoo made specific reference to her Armenian and Assyrian ancestry, noting the importance of House reaffirmation of the Armenian Genocide.
“Armenian Americans welcome today’s U.S. House vote as powerful encouragement for U.S. leadership in ending genocidal attacks – many being committed by allies of Ankara”, said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian.
According to Armenian Cause Office, the US President must express an official position on the issue by March 17.
