Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijan will reconsider its relations with the EU due to a resolution passed by the European Parliament.
Azerbaijan cancelled the European Commission delegation’s visit to Baku due to be paid next week. The delegation should have held preliminary discussions around the strategic partnership agreement draft, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports quoting the Foreign Ministry press service.
The decision on canceling the visit was linked to the “biased resolution” on Azerbaijan passed by the EP yesterday.
“On the whole, we should reconsider our ties with the EU which demonstrates strong anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Islamic tendencies”, the press release of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reads.
Earlier today, the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard has been invited to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mamedguliev has informed the diplomat about the country’s position on the EP’s resolution.
“Azerbaijan strongly condemns the resolution adopted by the EP. It is biased and destructive and jeopardizes Azerbaijan-EU relations”, said Mamedguliev.
