Yerevan /Mediamax/. Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Raul de Luzenberger stated today that “the Armenian customs system shouldn’t seek for victims to profit from. Such understanding of the system should be changed”.

Raul de Luzenberger stated this during a conference on reforms implemented with the EU support in the customs sphere, Mediamax reports.

“The process of organization of customs payments and establishment of volumes should be clear and transparent and based on strict and effective control”, he stated.

According to him, the new strategy worked out for the Armenian customs system is aimed at ensuring proper conditions and working style on border checkpoints.

“The EU makes extensive efforts to support this sphere. The repairs of infrastructure of the checkpoint in Bavr will be over this year and the checkpoint in Bagratashen will be repaired next year”, said the Ambassador.

Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Artur Baghdasaryan informed that an expert from the EU Consulting Group will be involved in the works on reforming the customs sphere. “This will allow us to make the reforms even more ambitious”, he said.
