Yerevan /Mediamax/. General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces has issued a statement, which reads:

“The General Staff of the Armed Forces expresses its resolute protest against the short-sighted and unfounded dismissal of First Deputy Chief of the General Staff, which has been done without accounting for the national and state interests of the Republic of Armenia, based only on personal feelings and ambitions. Making such a decision at this difficult moment for the country is an irresponsible step that goes against the state.

The Prime Minister and the government are no longer able to make adequate decisions in this decisive moment and crisis for the Armenian people.

The Armed Forces of Armenia has tolerated patiently for a long time the government’s “attacks” compromising the Armed Forces, but one must draw the line somewhere.

The Armed Forces has fulfilled its duties with courage and fought side by side with the people against the enemy.

The inefficient governance and grave mistakes in the foreign policy of the current government have brought the country to the edge of collapse.

Given the current situation, the Armed Forces of Armenia demands the resignation of the Prime Minister and the Government of Armenia and warns against using force against the people, whose children have died defending Armenia and Artsakh. The Army has always stood by the people, as the people have stood by the Army.”
