Yerevan/Mediamax/. The staff of the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Armenia will only comprise contract soldiers.
Interfax reports this referring to a source in the General Headquarters of the Russian Armed Forces.
“The last conscripts will leave the 102nd Russian military base deployed in Armenia in spring 2016”, said the representative to the agency.
General Headquarters’ representative stressed that the decision was made back in 2014 and is not linked to the tragic events in Gyumri where 7 people were murdered in early January. Russian military base serviceman Valery Permyakov is the accused of the crime.
