Yerevan /Mediamax/. Today, Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev accused USA of using “double standards.”
As Trend Agency reports, at the meeting with US Ambassador Richard Morningstar, Safar Abiyev said that “presidential elections in Azerbaijan were fair, democratic and free, and international organizations have positively assessed them.”
The Minister expressed concern over the fact that OSCE/ODIHR, as well as the U.S. Department of State have come up with “biased and untrue statements about presidential elections in Azerbaijan.”
According to Abiyev, “it’s impossible not to feel double standards here.”
As a concrete fact, Azerbaijani Defense Minister quoted the positive opinion of OSCE/ODIHR and the U.S. Department of State about presidential elections which were “totally falsified by aggressive Armenia.”
“Even despite the military pressure exercised by governmental forces on thousands of people who took to streets in Yerevan, as well as the killing of over a dozen of voters, no international pressure was exerted on Armenia,” Abiyev said.
The Azeri Defense Minster also noted that “all this needs to be seriously analyzed.”
