Yerevan /Mediamax/. EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said in Yerevan today that Armenia won’t initial the Association Agreement with the EU during the Vilnius Summit due to be held in November.
He said this at the end of the non-formal meeting of Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers in Yerevan.
He noted that the EU is going to sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine and initial it with Georgia and Moldova.
“As for Armenia, after the statement on joining the Customs Union it won’t be able to initial the Agreement which we have negotiated on for 3.5 years any more”, stated Stefan Fule.
He again stressed that the Association Agreement is a single document composed of 2 parts which were negotiated with the Armenian partners in integrity and it can’t be decoupled.
“I have come to Armenia with very simple ideas - to listen to and understand our Armenian partners’ intentions, wills and preferences. If they want to set up a legal circle which will advance us more than the current Partnership and Cooperation Agreement we will be very glad to work within this process”, said the Commissioner.
