Yerevan /Mediamax/. Newly appointed U.S. Co-Chair of OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick stated in Yerevan today that "political will and mutual concessions are needed from all the sides" to settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

During his meeting with journalists, the U.S. diplomat said that the NK settlement is not possible without "the society's understanding that the settlement of the issue is in the younger generations' interests", Mediamax reports.

"Principles of Helsinki Final Act - non-use of force and threat of force, right of self-determination and territorial integrity still guide us in the process. If we want to reach success there should be concessions from all the sides", noted James Warlick.

The U.S. diplomat said that he visited the region for the first time and aimed to listen to the positions of all the sides and get acquainted with the atmosphere on the whole.

The diplomat detailed that he didn't bring new proposals for the sides this time.

"As U.S. Co-Chair, I assure the United States is ready to continue working with Russia, France and international community to ensure the settlement of the conflict", said James Warlick.
