Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said today that not only will Armenia continue peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan but negotiate on the number of Armenian peacekeepers due to be sent to Lebanon.
Seyran Ohanyan said this today answering Mediamax's question.
"Peacekeeping is one of the most important areas of our international strategic cooperation. That comes to prove that Armenia is able to take part in the processes ensuring international peace and stability", said the Minister during his meeting with journalists.
Seyran Ohanyan said that "we will go on carrying out our peacekeeping actions in Afghanistan in the same format [after ISAF mission is over]".
Besides, according to the Minister, the number of Armenian peacekeepers due to be sent to Lebanon is also being negotiated now.
"As a result of experience exchange, introduction of leading standards and study of situations in various countries, we enhance our Armed Forces' ability of interaction which will contribute to realization of security issues of our country in the future", said Seyran Ohanyan.
