Tendency of drug addiction level increase observed in Armenia

Yerevan, June 24. /Mediamax/. Head of “Complex Management of Borders in the South Caucasus” Program in Armenia Grigory Malintsyan stated that tendency of drug addiction level increase is observed in Armenia.

Mediamax reports that during today’s news conference in Yerevan he said that if in 2009 the official number of people, using drugs, made 1717 people, in May, 2010 this number already reached 2750 people.

 

“Luckily, we are so far in the group of countries, in which drug addiction is not  that spread, however the tendency towards the increase in the number of people, using narcotics, is observed”, Grigory Malintsyan said.

 

At that he noted that the prices in the Armenian market of drugs are practically the same as the in the world market. In particular, 1 gram of heroin can be purchased for USD 150-180, cocaine – for USD 300, prices for amphetamines and methamphetamines range from USD 40 to USD 100, and for ecstasy (MDMA) – from USD 5 to USD 20.
