Yerevan /Mediamax/. "The Armenian Genocide: A Linguocognitive Perspective” book presentation took place in the Yerevan State University today.

The book is written by head of English Philology Chair of YSU Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, Doctor of Philology, professor Seda Gasparyan, Mediamax reports.

The book comprises the linguistic analysis of historic works by a number of foreign authors, including Henry Morgenthau, Gunther Louie, Ronald Suny, Taner Akcam, Israel Charny and Yair Auron, written in English.

Seda Gasparyan tried to reveal the language used during discussions on genocides

as an instrument of political propaganda aimed at formation of public opinion and mechanisms of manipulation of people's minds.

''Linguocognitive examination of  written and oral speeches of a number of politicians, historians and scientists who wrote about Armenian Genocide allows us unveiling the author's or speaker's opinion, realistic approach to the issue, his real communicative goals which are usually disguised as wordplays, stylistic methods and strategic use of speech. Nowadays Turkey tries to reaffirm its fake and fictitious ideology even through distorted translations'', Seda Gasparyan said this during the presentation.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan expressed the hope that the work will mark the beginning of a new series of researches on the Armenian Genocide. ''The book stands out with its high professionalism. It's a phenomenon among the books recently published by the YSU'', said the YSU Rector.

Director of the Institute of History of Armenian National Academy of Sciences, professor Ashot Melkonyan said that Seda Gasparyan's work is a study of a brand new field which allows learning about the Armenian Genocide from a brand new perspective.

Ashot Melkonyan claimed that if Armenians managed to fix by law that ''genocide'' and ''yeghern'' express one and the same meaning various speculations on this issue in the political arena could be avoided.
