Yerevan /Mediamax/. 11th golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan scheduled to take place on July 13-20 will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Sergey Parajanov.
Mediamax reports Artistic Director at Golden Apricot Festival Susanna Harutyunyan stated it today.
According to her, not only movies by Parajanov will be showed within Golden Apricot Festival, but there will also be movies about him, an exhibition and a round table discussion.
Golden Apricot Festival Program Director Michael Stamboltsyan said that the 11th Golden Apricot Festival will be opened by one of Parajanov’s movies – it will be either the restored “The Color of Pomegranates” or one of the documentary movies.
In his turn, Golden Apricot general sponsor VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian stated that due to the festival Armenia becomes more recognized in the international community from year to year.
“Every summer when the festival is organized Yerevan turns into a cultural crossroad”, said Ralph Yirikian.
This year, over 1500 movies from 101 countries have already been submitted to the festival. Germany is the first in the number of movies – 140 and is followed by Russia – 120. Armenia will present around 60 movies this year.
Golden Apricot General Director Harutyun Khachatryan said a movie dedicated to the Armenian Genocide will open Golden Apricot 2015.
