Yerevan/Mediamax/. Garo Paylan, Armenian MP from pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey, strictly condemned the arrest of the co-chairs and other members of his party.

The MP’s assistant Sayat Bazaryan informed Mediamax about this.

According to Turkish media, 11 MPs from Peoples’ Democratic Party were arrested today morning, including co-chairs Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag.

“Garo Paylan is in Istanbul at this moment, among people. The party members elaborate their further steps,” said the MP’s assistant, adding that the Party may come up with a statement.

According to him, Karo Paylan “is not involved in the arrest cases of his Party members, though he always spoke against human rights violations.”

Turkish authorities stated that the arrest of pro-Kurdish MPs was an instruction, as the latters did not appear at court to testify. They are basically accused of terrorist group propaganda.

Turkish parliament approved in May 2016 the draft law on deprivation of deputies of inviolability.

An explosion took place in the South-East of Turkey, near Diyarbakir after the arrest of pro-Kurdish MPs, which according to the latest official data, resulted in death of 8 people, while more than 100 were injured.

Governor of Diyarbakir put the responsibility for explosion on Kurdistan Worker's Party PKK.
