Yerevan /Mediamax/. Russian MFA Spokesperson Maria Zakharova has commented on the desecration of the monument dedicated to the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WW2), which has been committed in Armenian village of Avetaranots in Artsakh, occupied by Azerbaijan.
“Our principled position regarding desecration of monuments is well-known. Any such action is unacceptable, and if the desecration is committed against monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, there can be no other position at all.
We have contacted our Azerbaijani colleagues. They have assured us that the acts of vandalism, destruction of cemeteries and monuments to the soldiers killed in the Great Patriotic War, were timely registered. An investigation is underway into such actions. Those who are committing the acts of vandalism are held accountable. Such actions are prevented strictly and not encouraged,” she said at a briefing in Moscow.
