Yerevan /Mediamax/. Members of the German Bundestag and Landtag met with reporters in Artsakh today.
According to them, the German and European media do not cover the war objectively and that is the reason why came to Artsakh to see the reality in person.
The MPs promised to present the real picture of the war to Germany and Europe, so that they could use sanctions to force Azerbaijan and Turkey to stop the war.
Mediamax presents the important parts of the briefing of German MPs.
Steffen Kotre, member of Bundestag: “It is necessary to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan and Turkey so that they stop the war.”
Our mission is to show Germany and Europe what is happening here. Every person, organization that loves peace should raise their voice against Azerbaijan. We visited Shushi and saw how Azerbaijan shelled the church with Turkey’s help. Today, we were in Stepanakert and saw with our own eyes the buildings where civilians live that were bombed. There were no military facilities in the area.
We call on parliaments across the globe to act instead of speaking. Sanctions should be imposed on Azerbaijan and Turkey so that they stop the war.
Stephen Koiter, member of Bundestag: “We are afraid that a new Genocide may happen here”.
It is very important to register that it is not a local conflict but a large-scale war. We are here to awaken the people of Europe.
We are afraid that a new genocide may happen here. We want to show the world that they are trying to wipe out the population of Artsakh, and steps must be taken against it.
Andreas Kalbitz, member of Landtag: “Azerbaijan is one of the main players in international terrorism.”
We saw buildings that were bombed and realized that it is done to scare the population of Artsakh so that they leave their settlements. Ethnic cleansings are taking place here.
We call on the world to speak out and state that terrorists brought from Syria and Libya are fighting against Artsakh. Azerbaijan is one of the main players in international terrorism.
Andreas Galao, Member of Landtag and Vice-Speaker of Parliament: “Azerbaijan was never ready for peaceful solution”
By Turkey’s order, Azerbaijan withdrew from the Minsk Group peace process and decided to resolve the issue by force. If we take into account the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the past, we will see that this country has never been ready for a peaceful solution. Azerbaijan’s steps show that it wants to eliminate the population of Artsakh.
Germany cannot intervene in the war with arms, help Armenia or Artsakh, but can impose heavy sanctions on Ankara, which will be a heavier blow for Turkey than providing arms to Armenia.
