Yerevan/Mediamax/. Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan has held a meeting with Ambassador of UK to Armenia Judith Farnworth and Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Natalia Vutova.
The Defense Ministry has said that the parties discussed the launch and implementation of the new project “Human rights and women in the Armed Forces in Armenia”, financed by the UK government and realized by the Council of Europe Office.
Both parties attached importance to ensuring continuity of the program, which is a follow-up to the completed project “Strengthening the Application of European Human Rights Standards in the Armed Forces in Armenia”, implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan.
The objective of the “Human rights and women in the Armed Forces in Armenia” project is to contribute to better human rights protection in the armed forces, in particular the rights of female officers by helping guarantee equal service conditions for them, and to the development of capacities of MOD Human Rights and Good Behaviour Centre.
