Yerevan /Mediamax/. Co-Chairman of Armenia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, MP of European Parliament Milan Cabrnoch said today that during his meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the latter "clearly explained the reasons underlying the decision on joining the Customs Union".
Answering journalists' questions during a press conference in Yerevan today, Milan Cabrnoch detailed that one of the reasons was "Armenia's national security", Mediamax reports.
"We respect Armenia's decision and now ponder over how to continue our cooperation in the new situations", said the Co-Chairman of the Committee.
The EP MP noted that the European side has to review and revise the programs contained in the Association Agreement as the Agreement is not fully compatible with Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union.
Co-Chairman of EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Samvel Farmanyan noted in his turn that Yerevan and Brussels currently hold active talks which aim to clarify the areas of further cooperation between the sides.
