Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of European Department of Armenian Foreign Ministry Armen Liloyan said today that the visa facilitation regime between Armenia and the EU will allow starting talks on liberalization of the visa regime with the EU.
Armen Liloyan said this at the parliamentary hearings organized by the parliamentary Commissions on Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Mediamax reports.
Armen Liloyan presented the main provisions of the Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements between Armenia and EU.
The Agreement clearly determines the categories of citizens who will be able to get a Schengen visa in a facilitated order: members of governmental delegations, relatives of people who are citizens of EU member states, students, people who leave for EU for academic, scientific, cultural or medical purposes, journalists, participants of international sports events, people invited by Armenian Diaspora organizations operating in the EU states.
The Schengen visa will be free for pensioners, up to 12-year-old children, the disabled and accompanying persons, students, journalists and other groups.
For the rest of the citizens, Schengen visa will cost EUR35 instead of current EUR60.
“The Agreements are not available for UK, Ireland and Denmark which is conditioned by the migration policy of these states”, said Armen Liloyan.
Mediamax recalls that the European Parliament approved the Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements with Armenia on October 9.
The ratification of the agreements will be considered in the Armenian parliament at the upcoming 4-day session.
