Yerevan /Mediamax/. Former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan might keep his place in the board of directors of Russian corporation AFK Sistema.
The announcement on AFK Sistema’s website features Robert Kocharyan’s name in the list of candidates for members of the board of directors, which will be considered at the Annual meeting of shareholders, due to be held on Jun 27, 2020.
Robert Kocharyan was first elected independent director of AFK Sistema in June 2009. He has been reelected every year since then.
Kocharyan has been in custody since 25 June 2019. He is charged with overthrowing the constitutional order of Armenia during the events of 1-2 March 2008 and receiving a grand bribe.
The former President was also kept in custody in the periods from 28 July until 13 August 2018 and from 7 December 2018 until 18 May 2019.
