Yerevan/Mediamax/. At the Armenian government session today Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan instructed to continue optimization of programmes implementation units (PIUs), launching the second stage.

According to Prime Minister, five such units have been either reduced or closed by now. There are 17 PIUs now, funded by various international organizations through loans or other means.

Prime Minister instructed Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan to negotiate with foreign and international organizations on reduction of the number of PIUs and expenses on maintaining them by 1/3.

Karen Karapetyan noted they expected to bring the number of PIUs down to 5.
