The agenda of Pope Francis’ visit to Armenia is known

Yerevan/Mediamax/. According to Armenian presidential press service, Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church will arrive on a visit to Armenia on June 24.

Pope Francis will be greeted by an official ceremony at Zvartnots international airport in Yerevan and then leave for Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, where he will attend a welcome ceremony.

 

In the evening, the Pope will have a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, as well as Armenian officials and representatives of the public and political sphere at the Armenian presidential residence.

 

A meeting between Pope Francis and His Holiness Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will conclude the first day of the visit.

 

In the morning of June 25, the Pope will visit the Armenian Genocide memorial complex and museum of Tsitsernakaberd. Later Pope Francis will head to Gyumri, accompanied by Catholicos of All Armenians, where a liturgy will be held at Vardanants Square.

 

In Gymri, Pope Francis will also visit the “Armenian Mother of God” convent of the Congregation of Armenian Sisters of Immaculate Conception, the Cathedral of Seven Sorrows in Shirak diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, as well as the Cathedral of Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Catholic Church. In the evening, an ecumenical ceremony and a prayer for peace will be held at Republuc Suare in Yerevan.

 

On June 26, the Pope will meet Bishops of the Armenian Catholic Church and partake in a liturgy and an ecumenical dinner with the Catholicos of All Armenians, Archbishops and Bishops of Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches and the Pope’s delegation in Etchmiadzin.

 

Then Pope Francis will meet the delegates and donors of the Armenian Church.

 

Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will sign a joint statement. The Patriarchs will also hold a prayer in Khor Virap Temple.

 

On the same day, Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church will leave for Rome.
